The vision conjured up by the term ‘private investigator’ is usually in connection with matrimonial affairs. It can be extremely distressing when either partner believes the other is unfaithful. Suddenly they have new interests, take more care of their appearance by dieting, taking more exercise and buying new clothes. They begin working late more often and spending longer periods away from home. They become secretive with regards to e-mail and mobile telephone accounts. These are just a few of the signs that raise the suspicions. Often a partner is 99.9% certain that they are mistaken but need that extra re-assurance. Sometimes they are sure beyond any doubt that they are right but just need corroboration by an independent third party.
